Year 1 Block 2 Termly Maths Assessment: A Fun and Flexible YouTube PowerPoint Experience!
Searching for an engaging end-of-term maths assessment can be a challenge, but it doesn’t have to be! Our Year 1 Block 2 Termly Maths Assessment is designed to be both enjoyable and less stressful for students. With this assessment, teachers have the flexibility to choose whether students answer questions as they go or receive all the answers at the end. This approach not only reduces anxiety but also promotes a positive learning environment.
Additionally, this assessment serves as excellent revision material that can be completed in the classroom or at home, making it a versatile tool for reinforcing key concepts.
As part of my initiative to enhance learning resources, I am converting all my PowerPoint presentations into engaging YouTube videos through the PowerPoint Combos initiative. This allows teachers to deliver lessons using either the PowerPoint format or the YouTube version, and easily share the YouTube lesson with students’ parents. This means the assessment can be revisited at home for additional practice and reinforcement.
Make assessment time fun and effective with our Year 1 Block 2 Termly Maths Assessment and watch your students thrive!

I have developed a series of termly Year 3 Maths assessments based on the Wigan maths assessments. I have created both Youtube videos and PowerPoints around these tests.
There are two different Year 3 Maths assessments. In the first you ask a question and everyone answers it and then you have a choice of two different assessments.
In the first, the answer appears after the question and this one is useful if you are using a Block 2 Year 3 assessment as a revision tool as everyone can discuss how they found their answer. They can also use it to see how well they are doing during their termly Year 3 assessment.
The second type is the traditional ask all the questions first, swap papers and check each of the answers which is all great and has its own merits. I hope you like this new approach to teaching maths in the classroom as I do plan to make a lot more lessons which are similar to this in the future.

I collected together thousands of different report comments used by the QCA to describe learning outcomes and created a whole school report writing tool for every class in a primary schools. It will save you hours and hours when you write your reports. I can now write all my school reports in an afternoon or a couple of evenings.
I have used this set of report writing comments for the last 10 years. I have included a link to help you download the freeware report writing software and also a step by step guide to help you get the most out of this wonderful software.
I have gone through hundreds of different teaching schemes written by the QCA and I have re-written their learning outcomes as report comments. It is now possible to simply click the different things a student has achieved in a specific topic and cut and paste it into your school reports.
I have made sure that for English and Maths, that it is possible to differentiate between high, middle and lower achieving children. Each report is still written with a single child in mind, and so every report still comes out unique and special to that student. The difference being you now simply add their name, their sex and click on the statements which are relevant to them.
In the past, I have received great praise for this material and often it has been described as a life or career saver, when teachers needed to produce a complete set of high quality teaching resources in a very short time.
Please note - due to the huge number of different files and comments I have produced, it is still possible there will be an occasional typo in the comments bank. Please read and check your reports after writing them to make sure they are perfect before sending them out.
Why use this when the questions and answers are free online? Simply because I have taken the questions and *COMBINED* them with the answers, making the lesson a lot simpler to teach!
I love to revise grammar. I don't like needing to constantly refer between the answers and the questions to get the most out of each lesson. I decided the simplest thing was to simply combine the question paper and the marking schemes into a single document. The idea is simple - you ask a question - the children then show their answers and then you check the answers as a class against the official marking scheme answers.
This helps to keep revision fun and the lessons snappy.
FREE Year 6 Termly Maths Assessment using YouTube and PowerPoint Presentations
I am now converting all my PowerPoint presentations into YouTube videos PowerPoint Combos. This means teachers can teach the lesson using either the PowerPoint or Youtube version of the lesson and then share the YouTube lesson with their students’ parents. This lesson can then be repeated at home as additional homework.
I have always used the Wigan Maths Tests to prepare the students for their final exams. However, I wanted to improve it, so that I could ask a question and discuss the answer directly on the whiteboard and so I rewrote the tests as PowerPoint presentations. The students could do it together in the classroom or take them home as additional revision.

While the Wigan LEA website disappeared, taking all its maths resources with it, I kept a copy and then made a complete set of PowerPoint Maths assessments I want to share with everyone. These would be great for revising for the KS1 SATs tests.
There are two different formats, you can either show them a question, then let them work out the answer and check their answers, or you can show them each question in turn and set them sme time to find the answer and then ask them the next question until you finish the test. I have also included the original test papers for teachers who want to print out all the test papers and answers all in one go.
I hope you find them as useful as I do with my own class.
This summer I improved my Place Value presentation. I have created both a PowerPoint and a YouTube version of my presentation.
I have been looking at the materials I need to update and improve and I found this little gem.
If you are looking for a fun, free, Year 3 Autumn term lesson about place values, complete with a warm up, main lesson and a plenary, then I would highly recommend you try this one. If you go to https://www.tes.com/teaching-resource/year-3-maths-powerpoint-lessons-6167050, you will find it as part of my complete FREE Year 3 Maths teaching pack.
This is my toy bundle. It shows a range of modern toys and compares them to toys from the past. Which toys are still popular from the past? I also included a creative writing prompt to encourage the students to write about the different toys in more detail.
This is a set of presentations about different forms of transport. The presentations would be a great way of getting a class to use a wider range of descriptive terms, especially when it comes to describing colours, the locations and the number of wheels they can count. This a good way to introduce the topic of cars and transport. I have also included two ‘Talk a lot’ teaching units about transport and cars. Finally, I also included the car free day presentation, to see how many different forms of transport the children can identify. Ask your students to describe what are the pros and cons of using each type of transport.
This is my cross curricular weather topic. I have a presentation about different types of weather which you could use to teach them the vocabulary they need to describe the weather. This is followed by a fun 'Talk A Lot' set of lessons about the weather and finally there is a vocabulary quiz which shows they can now successfully talk about the weather.
This is a collection of different early reader books and teaching resources I think you will really enjoy using. I developed my own thinking scarves reading scheme as a replacement for the thinking hats reading scheme and I even converted a whole set of books which could be used with the scheme. I also created PowerPoint versions of a wide range of different “Can you spot it books” where you need to find all the different objects listed in the picture.
I love guided reading. I love to get the children to discover more from every book they read. I like my students to look at the same book from different viewpoints, such as by using Thinking Hats to get more out of each book. I have created a wide range of different worksheets which you can use time and again with different books. Try them today.
Are you teaching about water, the sea, oceans, the water cycle or rivers? Then I am sure you would find this wonderful collection of water related presentations, quizzes and creative writing prompts, very useful. These resources can be used for a wide range of different age groups and as part of a cross-curricular unit
This is my environmental bundle. It has presentations on different types of pollution and the environmental problems we face. It also examines in detail climate change. In addition, it reviews habitats and the local environment.
Are you wanting your students to study harder and work smarter? Then these posters and teaching ideas might help them to achieve their real potential. They can use the 3D monthly target to keep focused. The motivational posters should help them keep their dreams in sight, while they can refer to the different learning guides to make sure they remember how to learn effectively.
